INTERACT project

Good morning my name is Margreta Johansson. I work as the coordinator of Interact. Interact is a network of 86
land-based research stations in all Arctic countries and in adjacent high
alpine and forested areas. Interact is building capacity for monitoring
environmental changes in the Arctic. We do that by offering access to research
stations through our transnational access programme. So far more than 900
researchers have been able to carry out their field work in the Arctic through
this programme. Interact is also working on best practices for station management
for example by reducing our own environmental impact. We are developing
new and more efficient ways of monitoring ongoing changes in the Arctic
by using for example drones where it can be dangerous for people. In short –
Interact is a one-stop-shop for terrestrial research in the Arctic.
