Darwin Ship Lift and Marine Industry Project – Fly Through

The Northern Territory Government is
delivering the largest ship lift in northern Australia. It’s a four hundred
million dollar project developing new infrastructure to lift ships out of the
water to allow them to be maintained in Darwin. The ship lift will be capable of
servicing offshore petroleum, fishing, pearling, defence and border force
vessels. The NT government is proposing to build this project through a
competitive process and has in principle agreement with Paspaley, a Territory
owned company headquartered in Darwin to operate and maintain the project. The ship lifted east arm will create about 100 jobs during construction but the
real benefit is the 400 long-term jobs and the 260 million dollars in
additional economic activity each year. Authorised by the Northern Territory
Government Darwin
